Glowforge Aura Craft Laser: Wattage, Files for Laser Cutting, and Cup Etching Checklist

Do not cut PVC, vinyl, or anything that contains chlorine. It releases toxic gas and damages the machine. Also, don't assume every item labeled 'laserable' is the same. Some finished woods contain glues that produce poor results. Some acrylic is cast, some is extruded, and they behave differently.

Keep the lens and mirrors clean. I had a run of weak cuts that made no sense until I looked at the lens. A thin layer of smoke residue was absorbing the laser power. Clean optics are part of the checklist now.
